VODOHOD advocates positive image of Russia abroad. “Golden Verb Awards”

VODOHOD River Cruise Company took once again part as a general sponsor in “Golden Verb Awards”, organized annually among foreign journalists by All Russia Mass Media Organization called “MediaSoyuz”. Participation in this event of international importance became a tradition for VODOHOD as last year the awarding ceremony was held with its sponsorship.
“Golden Verb Awards” was intended mainly for foreign journalists from radio, information agencies, papers, television, revues, whose publications, connected to different aspects of life in Russia, were released between the 1 of November 2007 and 1 of November 2008.
Professional, talented and main thing, objective and honest reflection of Russia in their publications and works was the main criterion for deciding the winners.
According to Andrey Smolin’ words, chief of marketing and advertising department, “In reality, every one knows that few occidental journalists manage to provide great masses of population with truthful information about Russian actuality. After all, creating a positive image of Russia is a point of a great importance for us. Sometimes it is very hard to break negative tuning of just arrived for holidays in our country tourists. Sure, during the cruise aboard one of our motorships their idea of Russia changes greatly. As they often say, their watchful attitude to Russia is a fruit of negative information, flooding all sources of mass media. That’s why I consider that these brave and honest journalists, painting Russia as it is, deserve a special recompense”.
The awarding ceremony was held the 04th of December in country-house Estate Stakheev (Moscow). Apart from symbolic presents, all twelve winners were given certificates for free Russian river cruise aboard one of VODOHOD comfortable motorships. “I’m very happy to encourage the winners. Thanks to this cruise, they will be able to discover Russian traditions and culture, learn more about our country. Who knows, may be this cruise will help them to create new original and truthful publications about Russia”, said Andrea Smolin.
